About Dr Sophia Holliday
Dr. Sophia Holliday is a highly experienced and empathetic Consultant Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist, with nearly two decades of experience in supporting young people's mental health. Families appreciate her friendly, calm manner, which immediately helps children feel relaxed and heard during their first meeting. Her clinical expertise spans a broad spectrum of emotional and behavioural difficulties, with a special focus on ADHD and other neuro-developmental conditions. Currently serving as the Associate Medical Director for Kent CAMHS & Eating Disorder Services since May 2022, Dr. Holliday also works as a Consultant Psychiatrist at Swale CAMHS, a position she has held since 2017. In her role, she leads multidisciplinary assessments for acute and long-term mental health, neuro-developmental, and learning-disability presentations. She prescribes and monitors psychotropic medications and integrates evidence-based psychological therapies when appropriate. Dr. Holliday also supervises core and higher psychiatric trainees, playing an active role in shaping the next generation of CAMHS specialists, and is involved in safeguarding, Mental Health Act assessments, and court reporting. Dr. Holliday's clinical interests include ADHD across childhood and adolescence, focusing on diagnostic assessment, medication optimisation, and holistic management, including sleep and emotional-regulation programmes. She also specialises in autism spectrum disorders and complex neuro-developmental profiles, providing family-centred care plans and clear formulations. In addition to her clinical practice, Dr. Holliday is a well-regarded educator, having received the Kent, Surrey & Sussex Trainee-Trainer of the Year award in 2022. She is actively involved in teaching and supervising medical students and psychiatric trainees and has contributed to service-improvement projects on ADHD assessment pathways, depression screening in physically-ill children, and induction for resident doctors. She has co-authored peer-reviewed research and presented at national conferences. Dr. Holliday's approach combines evidence-based medicine with warmth and compassion. She works collaboratively with families, schools, GPs, and other professionals to create clear, step-by-step plans tailored to each child's strengths and developmental stage. Her goal is to demystify mental-health care, empowering young people with the confidence and strategies they need to thrive.
"Evidence-based care tailored to each patient — taking the time to explain options and shared decisions."
