“I used to fall sick all the time as a child — constant colds, sore throats. Then my mother took me to a Chinese Medicine doctor. I still remember the Chrysanthemum and Honeysuckle… and how everything changed. That was the beginning.”
— Dr Chan
A Personal Calling
Dr Siu Lun Chan’s journey into Chinese Medicine began with his own healing. After childhood illnesses were resolved through traditional herbal treatments, he developed a lasting connection to this form of medicine. That early experience sparked a lifelong commitment to care, curiosity, and cultural integration — a commitment he now brings to each patient he sees.
An Integrative Approach: Where Ancient Wisdom Meets Modern Understanding
Patients often come to Dr Chan with curiosity — and questions. He sees part of his role as a translator between traditions, helping patients understand how and why Chinese Medicine works.
He draws on relatable metaphors from nature — like rivers, roots, and seasonal patterns — to explain concepts that might otherwise feel abstract. At the same time, he shares modern clinical studies and biomedical perspectives that align with his treatments, especially for those more familiar with Western medicine.
“Chinese Medicine isn’t mystical — it’s rooted in observation, biology, and thousands of years of clinical practice. The more people understand it, the more empowered they become in their healing.”
This approach reflects Dr Chan’s wider mission: to bridge Eastern and Western systems not as opposing viewpoints, but as complementary tools in the art of healing.
“In modern Chinese hospitals, acupuncture and herbal medicine are used alongside conventional treatments for stroke, cancer, asthma and more. I want patients in the UK to know they have these options too.”
Through clarity, clinical insight, and cultural sensitivity, Dr Chan helps his patients access the full potential of Chinese Medicine — with confidence, understanding, and care.
Qualifications: Trained in the Classics. Grounded in Modern Science.
Dr Chan earned his Bachelor’s degree in Chinese Medicine from the Chinese University of Hong Kong after five years of intensive study. He then completed a two-year clinical placement at Guangzhou University of Chinese Medicine, deepening his understanding of acupuncture, herbal medicine, and integrative diagnostics.
He went on to complete a Master of Science in Stroke and Clinical Neuroscience in 2012, bridging traditional Chinese knowledge with Western clinical research on recovery and the nervous system.
Experience: From Hong Kong Hospitals to International Practice
Dr Chan began his clinical work in 2008 at Tung Wah Hospital in Hong Kong, learning under senior Chinese Medicine practitioners and participating in public health outreach. He later joined Pok Oi Hospital, where he provided acupuncture and herbal treatment for a wide range of conditions and oversaw clinic operations.
Since relocating to the UK in 2023, he now practises at AcuMedic in London, bringing his depth of experience to a new and growing patient community.
