He completed his specialist training in General and Upper Gastrointestinal surgery within South Wales (Newport, Cardiff, Swansea), followed by a Senior Fellowship in Upper GI surgery in Adelaide, Australia. Currently, Mr. Wood serves as a Consultant General and Upper GI Surgeon at Aneurin Bevan University Health Board and privately at St Josephs Hospital, Newport where he performs surgeries, outpatient clinics and endoscopy . His specialist interests include laparoscopic surgery for gallstones (cholecystectomy), gastro-oesophageal reflux / GORD / hiatus hernia (Fundoplication & LINX surgery), oesophageal achalasia and hernia surgery (laparoscopic and open techniques).

Mr Wood possesses significant expertise in the diagnosis and management of oesophageal, stomach, gallbladder and liver/pancreas conditions.
