Dr Shan Mammen John is a highly experienced and accomplished Specialist Orthodontist with over 24 years of clinical experience, including more than 15 years practising in the Middle East. He is known for providing a gentle, patient-focused and professional approach to orthodontic care, with extensive expertise in orthodontics and dentofacial orthopaedics for adolescents, teenagers and adults.
Dr Shan is currently licensed as a Specialist Orthodontist at Sadd Maareb Medical Centre where he has been practising since August 2025. Previously, he worked as Specialist Orthodontist at Burjeel Hospital Al Ain and previous to that as specialist orthodontist and Head of Dental Department at Al Khaleej Hospital in Al Ain between 2014 and 2023. He has also held specialist orthodontic roles at Excellency Medical Center in Abu Dhabi and Yas Medical Center in Al Buraimi, Oman.
Dr Shan completed his Master of Dental Surgery in Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopaedics in 2005 at the A.B. Shetty Memorial Institute of Dental Sciences in Mangalore. He obtained his Bachelor of Dental Surgery in 1999 from the College of Dental Surgery, Mangalore, affiliated with the Manipal Academy of Higher Education, and was awarded Fellowship of the Academy of General Education in 2000.
His clinical expertise covers the management of skeletal and dental malocclusions, functional appliances, cleft lip and palate cases, orthognathic surgery cases, and complex multidisciplinary orthodontic care. He is proficient in ceramic braces, lingual orthodontics, micro-implants, and Invisalign, for which he is certified. He is also trained in treating complex cases requiring micro-implant-supported orthodontics and advanced dentofacial correction.
Dr Shan maintains high professional standards and is compliant with DOH, JCIA and OSHA requirements. He is BLS certified and remains committed to delivering safe, effective and personalised orthodontic treatment, helping patients achieve healthy, well-aligned smiles with long-term functional and aesthetic outcomes.
