Dr. Jayapal earned his primary medical qualification at Madras University, after which he earned his Medical Doctorate at the Institute of Child Health and Hospital for Children, India. He then went to the UK to continue his training and gained membership with the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child health. Dr. Jayapal then completed his paediatric neurology fellowship at Evelina Children's Hospital, and was appointed Consultant at the Royal Berkshire Hospital, UK, and was also made Senior House Officer.
