Dr Sandra Elmer

Dr Sandra Elmer, a consultant urologist, is based in East Melbourne and has public appointments at the Royal Melbourne Hospital and Austin Health. She also holds consultations with patients at the Australian Prostate Centre, North Melbourne. Dr Elmer treats all aspects of general urology and treats both male and female urinary incontinence. She sees patients with a range of conditions including kidney stones, prostatic disease, and urological cancers including prostate, kidney, bladder, and testicular. Dr Elmer's specialist areas are as follows: Female pelvic medicine Reconstructive surgery Functional urology and neurogenic bladder dysfunction Urodynamics, neuromodulation and botox Dr Elmer has expertise in endoscopic, laparoscopic, and robotic surgery. She also uses laser surgery for the treatment of kidney stones and prostatic enlargement. She has trained at the New York University with the world's top female pelvic medicine and reconstructive surgeons and completed robotic surgical training in Belgium. Dr Elmer is actively involved in research and has previously worked at the KEMRI Wellcome Trust where she investigated malaria in pregnancy. She has also received a Master of Surgery for her research and presented at international conferences. Dr Elmer is a member of the following organisations: Urological Society of Australia and New Zealand Royal Australasian College of Surgeons Society of Urodynamics, female pelvic medicine and urogenital reconstruction International Urogynecological Association
