About Dr Sandeep Ankolekar
Dr Sandeep Ankolekar is a Consultant Neurologist based at King’s College Hospital, London, with additional practice at London Bridge Hospital. He completed his medical degree at Kasturba Medical College in Mangalore in 1996, before undergoing specialist neurology training in Leeds, the Royal London Hospital, and St George’s Hospital in London. He holds a PhD in stroke medicine from the University of Nottingham. Dr Ankolekar’s primary clinical and research focus lies in stroke care, particularly post-stroke cognitive impairment and acute blood pressure management. His academic work includes leading the pilot RIGHT (Rapid Intervention with Glyceryl Trinitrate in Hypertensive Stroke) trial, exploring novel approaches to treating hypertensive stroke. In addition to his clinical responsibilities, Dr Ankolekar is actively involved in research and has contributed to several peer-reviewed medical publications. He is a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians and plays a role in the design and oversight of clinical studies aimed at improving neurological outcomes. His combined expertise in clinical practice and academic research ensures a well-rounded approach to patient care in neurology.
