About Miss Salwa Idle

Miss Salwa Idle is a highly experienced consultant gynaecologist with expertise in minimal access surgery, complex open surgery, and advanced gynaecological ultrasound.  She trained at the prestigious King’s College Hospital and Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust in London. She serves as deputy dead of service for gynaecology and is the clinical lead for the first Women’s and Girls’ Health Hub at Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust. Miss Idle is known for her warm, thorough, and evidence-based approach to patient care.  She completed her medical training at Barts and The Royal London School of Medicine and Dentistry, graduating with distinction, before undertaking specialist training in London. In addition to her medical degree, Miss Idle holds a First-Class Honours degree in Medical Engineering (BEng) from Queen Mary University of London.  She was awarded Membership of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (MRCOG) in 2016 and subsequently completed an advanced fellowship in minimally invasive surgery for endometriosis. She also holds accredited training in advanced early pregnancy and acute gynaecological ultrasound from King’s College London.  In her private practice, Miss Idle offers expert assessment and treatment for a wide range of gynaecological conditions including chronic pelvic pain, endometriosis, fibroids, menstrual disorders, abnormal uterine bleeding, ovarian cysts, polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), recurrent miscarriage, menopause-related concerns, and vulval conditions. Her clinical work also includes the management of early pregnancy problems and pelvic health conditions. She has particular expertise in diagnostic procedures and minimally invasive surgical techniques, including advanced gynaecological ultrasound, outpatient hysteroscopy, and laparoscopic (keyhole) surgery. Her approach is highly personalised, ensuring that every patient feels listened to, supported, and fully informed throughout their care.  Miss Idle is passionate about advancing women’s health and is a strong advocate for compassionate, holistic care delivered to the highest clinical standards. She is actively involved in service development, patient safety, and clinical governance within her hospital, and supports regional service improvement initiatives across South-East London.  Alongside her clinical work, Miss Idle is a dedicated educator who regularly teaches and mentors doctors in ultrasound scanning and surgical techniques. She is highly regarded by both patients and colleagues for her empathy, clarity, and leadership.

"Evidence-based care tailored to each patient — taking the time to explain options and shared decisions."
