About

Dr Roland Teare is a GP Partner and GP Surgeon based in Wiltshire, with a specialist focus on Sports and Exercise Medicine (SEM). He completed a Master’s degree in Sports and Exercise Medicine in 2013 and has since combined clinical general practice with specialist musculoskeletal and sports medicine roles.

Dr Teare works as a GP in Sports and Dance Medicine at the Royal United Hospital and also provides care within NHS community orthopaedic and fracture clinics. His clinical work includes the assessment and management of acute and chronic musculoskeletal injuries, sports-related conditions and exercise-related health issues across a wide range of activity levels.

Alongside his clinical practice, Dr Teare is actively involved in medical education. He is a lecturer and examiner at the University of Bath, where he has contributed to the development and delivery of the Sports and Exercise Medicine programme. His teaching role supports the training of clinicians entering or expanding their practice within SEM.

Dr Teare has extensive experience in elite and community sport. He has previously worked as a club doctor in professional football and has provided medical support within athletics and school sport. He is currently the Team Doctor and Lead Academy Doctor at Bath Rugby. In recent seasons, he has acted as a match-day doctor for Premiership, European and Six Nations rugby competitions and undertook a similar role at the Women’s Rugby World Cup in 2025.

“Evidence-based care tailored to each patient — taking the time to explain options and shared decisions.”
