Dr Rohini Sharma is a dual-accredited clinician in both Clinical Pharmacology and Medical Oncology. Dr Sharma has a specific interest in hepatocellular cancer (HCC), neuroendocrine tumours (NETs) and PET imaging. Dr Sharma is the oncology lead for the specialist hepato-oncology clinic, a unique service where patients are jointly managed by a hepatologist and medical oncologist with a view to improving clinical outcomes and promoting research. They are also the oncology lead for the management of NETs. Dr Sharma is committed to training the next generation of clinician scientists and is the lead for the academic clinical medicine programme, education supervisor for medical oncology, BSc research module lead and supervises several PhD students.
Dr Sharma completed medical training at the University of Adelaide, Australia. They undertook specialist oncology training at the Royal Prince Alfred Hospital, Sydney and clinical pharmacology training at Westmead Hospital, Sydney. Dr Sharma was awarded an NHMRC fellowship to complete their PhD at the Westmead Millennium Institute, University of Sydney, Australia. They were also awarded the prestigious Higher Education Funding Council for England clinical senior lecturer position in May 2010.
