He had been appointed as associate Medical Director–Caldicott Guardian for the Bart's and the London NHS Trust and until recently for over a decade Clinical Academic Director of Cutaneous Medicine and Surgery (Dermatology, Plastic Surgery including Trauma and Tissue viability) at Bart's Health NHS Trust (incorporating Bart's, Royal London, London Chest, Whipps Cross & Newham University Hospitals) and Queen Mary's University London Medical School and Dentistry.
His interest includes inflammatory dermatoses and cutaneous oncology. He set up and led a weekly tertiary multidisciplinary psoriasis and monthly Dermatology- Rheumatology combined clinic. Prof Cerio is also a skin cancer specialist and supports weekly multidisciplinary local and specialist skin tumour meetings. He also continues to teach undergraduates and provide post-graduate teaching on dermatological and dermatopathological topics locally, regionally, nationally and internationally.
