Professor John Scholefield is a Consultant Surgeon and Emeritus Professor of Surgery. He had previously worked at Queen's Medical Centre in Nottingham and left to pursue a career in the private sector. He works at the BMI Park Hospital, Spire Nottingham Hospital and he also works at a Medicolegal practice.
Professor Scholefield qualified in Medicine from the University of Liverpool in 1983. Following this, he completed his general training Sheffield and he then specialised in colorectal surgery at St Mark's Hospital London. He was then appointed Consultant and spent 25 years practicing as a General Surgeon.
He has published more than 120 articles and has co-edited 6 textbooks. He enjoys undertaking research in colorectal screening, anal cancer and anal fissures and he is well-known both nationally and internationally.
