About
Professor Lim completed his undergraduate medical degree at the University of Sheffield Medical School in 1996. He later completed his specialist training in Heart and Lung Surgery at Papworth Hospital, Cambridge and the Royal Brompton Hospital in London. He also completed medical research in Cambridge and was awarded a Doctorate of Medicine for his work. He also holds a Master of Science degree in Medical Statistics funded by a UK Medical Research Council Scholarship.
Professor Lim has specific expertise in cancer of the lung and chest. He also has clinical expertise in minimally invasive surgery for the treatment and management of lung cancer, chest cancer, pneumothorax and pleural effusion as well as expertise in complex conservation surgery for advanced lung cancer.
He is a keen researcher with active interests in both clinical and translational research. He holds positions of Chief Investigator on several UK wide trials, including MARS 2 and VIOLET as well as Head of the Biomedical Research Unit Cancer Consortia.
He has published over 100 peer-reviewed papers and has two award-winning textbooks and 6 book chapters. Professor Lim also has a history of contributing to guidelines of the British Thoracic Society, Society of Cardiothoracic Surgery, European Society of Medical Oncology and the European Neuroendocrine Tumours Management of Bronchopulmonary Carcinoids. He is currently the Chair of the UK Thoracic Surgery Research Collaborative.
