Professor Anthony Maraveyas is a renowned figure in the field of Oncology.
They graduated from Athens Medical School in 1983. Following this, Professor Maraveyas completed their internal medicine training in 1990. In 1995, they were awarded a PhD from the University of London. Professor Maraveyas is the Co-Chair of the International Society on Thrombosis and Haemostasis (ISTH) SSG group in Cancer and Thrombosis. They are also Chair of the VTE multi-disciplinary team. Professor Maraveyas is a member of guideline-producing committees for CAT for a number of organisations, including: ESMO (European Society for Medical Oncology), ITAC (International Initiative on Thrombosis and Cancer), BSH (British Society of Haematology), EHA (European Haematology Association) and ISTH.
Professor Maraveyas has contributed significantly to clinical research, notably serving as the national chief investigator for numerous studies on Cancer-Associated Thrombosis (CAT). Their research has been widely published, particularly focusing on thromboprophylaxis for ambulatory cancer patients and the management of Incidental Pulmonary Embolism (IPE).
