About Dr Piya Sen Gupta
Dr Piya SEN GUPTA is a Consultant Endocrinologist whose NHS base is at Guy’s and St Thomas’ Hospitals in London. She is a founder member of The Physician's Clinic at The Wellington Hospital and sees private patients there at the Platinum Medical Centre (Central London) and associated HCA clinics in North London (Golders Green) and Hertfordshire (Elstree Waterfront). Virtual appointments can be offered where suitable. Her practice covers the full breadth of Endocrinology, with particular expertise in obesity, type 2 diabetes, metabolic health, PCOS and complex endocrine symptoms. She takes a solution-focused approach to an individual's endocrine symptoms or concerns, with an emphasis on achieving wellness. This includes comprehensive clinical and biochemical assessments of hormonal balance. She provides strategies to restore balance where endocrine or metabolic problems exist, encouraging shared decision-making based on each patient's priorities. She uses technology where appropriate, including continuous glucose monitoring, to guide treatment decisions in diabetes. She is skilled in using lifestyle medicine and other evidence-based interventions to support safe type 2 diabetes remission where sought and relevant. She has particular experience in gut hormone-based therapies and endoscopic treatments for diabesity, informed by her extensive clinical experience and her PhD. Dr. Sen Gupta is a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians and an Honorary Senior Lecturer at King's College London. She supervises and teaches doctors, multidisciplinary colleagues and students. She contributes to cutting-edge research in her academic fields of diabetes, obesity, gut hormone-based therapies and metabolic endoscopic treatments, has regularly presented at international conferences and published in peer-reviewed journals. She is a research-active clinician, formerly an NIHR Academic Clinical Fellow, ABCD Research Fellow and Principal Investigator on a number of clinical studies.
