Pascalle Smith is an accredited hand therapist who has worked as a specialist hand therapist for over eleven years. Pascalle received her qualifications as an occupational therapist from Southampton University. After she graduated, she worked at the Wessex Rehabilitation Unit at Salisbury Hospital and gained significant experience in long term rehabilitation therapy for the hand.
Pascalle has specialist knowledge in the assessment of chronic hand conditions and in the rehabilitation of upper limb injuries. Prior to focusing more on her independent practise, Pascalle worked witihn the NHS at Queen Victoria Hospital, East Grinstead and gained both specialised experience and skills in hand trauma and plastic reconstruction.
Pascalle uses advanced activity analysis skills in her treatments including remedial games, arts/crafts and light vocational tasks.
Pascalle has a particular interest in hand function and the part it plays in everyday activities. She ensures that she formulates treatment plans to meet the individual needs of her patients so that they can regain functional activity as soon as possible. Pascalle also has a keen interest in thumb injuries and complex regional pain syndrome.
Pascalle is the current Treasurer for the British Association of Hand Therapists. In this role she enjoys promoting her specialist profession, encouraging new developments in her field, conducting research and ensuring best clinical treatments are available for patients.
