About

Mrs Lisa Walters is a highly-qualified Chartered Counselling Psychologist with a speciality in mental health problems.

She has extensive experience in helping patients to deal with anger management, anxiety, bereavement, bullying, depression, low self-esteem, stress management and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and trauma. She delivers short and long term therapy for adults to help work through these problems/issues.

Mrs Walters understands that it can be difficult to open up about one's problems, despite having a support network. She therefore aims to work collaboratively with each client, in a safe, confidential and non-judgemental space; using a range of evidence based techniques to help manage problems that may crop up in everyday lives.

As a qualified psychologist, she works with her patients by carrying out an informed psychological assessment to first understand the problems and then use psychological models with proven track record, including cognitive behavioural, compassion-focused, psychodynamic and schema informed therapy, to provide individually tailored treatment plans.

Mrs Walters has completed several specialist training programmes, these includes Advanced Compassion Focused Therapy Training, Complex PTSD for Adult Trauma and Helping Survivors of Childhood Trauma. Furthermore, she has been able to put her skills into practice by previously working for the NHS, the HM Prison Services, Universities, Mental Health Charities, GP Surgeries, the Private Sector and currently the Civil Service - Ministry of Defence and in Private Practice.
