He has over 90 papers, posters and publications and has a significant contribution to the global academic community. His role as principal investigator in multinational trials has shaped important treatment protocols used in modern ophthalmic care.

Zac’s passion for education extends beyond his clinical work. He leads courses on microsurgical skills and cataract surgery at the Royal College of Ophthalmologists and has taught retinal surgery at the European School of Advanced Studies in Ophthalmology. He has written teaching material and modules for the Royal College of Ophthalmologists and Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh. His training programs at Golden Jubilee Hospital have earned top ratings from trainees and are now being considered a model for training across Scotland.

In addition to his clinical and academic contributions, Zac has held senior leadership roles, including Clinical Director for Ophthalmology at NHS Ayrshire & Arran and Chair of the Medical Advisory Committee at Nuffield Hospital.
