Mr Vittorio Russo
About
He takes a structured and patient-focused approach to assessment, with a strong emphasis on understanding the cause of symptoms and explaining all treatment options clearly. Most patients are managed without surgery, and when surgery is needed, this is carefully planned with a focus on minimally invasive and targeted techniques where appropriate.
He also provides second opinions for patients with ongoing symptoms after previous spinal treatment or surgery, helping to clarify diagnosis and guide further management.
His specialist expertise includes spinal tumours, spinal trauma, complex spinal reconstruction and revision spinal surgery for patients who have undergone previous spinal procedures elsewhere. He is based at the National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery, Queen Square, where he manages a large NHS practice at one of the UK’s leading specialist neuroscience centres.
He sees private patients at Cleveland Clinic London and is also based at Queen Square, UCLH. He is dual trained in neurosurgical and orthopaedic spinal surgery, with fellowship training in leading centres in the UK and USA, including London, Oxford and LSU New Orleans.
In addition to his clinical work, he is an Honorary Associate Professor at University College London (UCL), with extensive international publications and presentations.
“Evidence-based care tailored to each patient — taking the time to explain options and shared decisions.”
