About Mr Roy Farrell
Mr Roy Farrell trained in Medicine at Trinity College Dublin, and he qualified in 1983. He completed his training in general surgery over the next five years in hospitals in Dublin before moving to Sheffield to train in Otolaryngology with a special interest in Head and Neck cancer. While in Sheffield he researched the role of viral infections in the aetiology of Head and Neck Cancer. Mr Farrell then moved to London and worked at Great Ormond Street Hospital and Northwick Park Hospital while he completed his broad training in ear nose and throat surgery and specialised in head and neck surgery. Mr Farrell has continued to work at Northwick Park Hospital and set up a Head and Neck Unit there. He was the Clinical Director at the North West London Hospital Trust for years. Mr Farrell then took on the role as MAC chair at The Clementine Churchill Hospital and assisted in the Hospitals improvement programme where they achieved a CQC rating vastly improved on their previous position. Mr Farrell then took up the CD role of the Head and Neck unit in January this year with pre Covid plans to push the boundaries of the unit and firmly establish its premier position in London. Mr Farrell has a range of special interests in Otolaryngology including Head and Neck problems and complex Thyroid disease. Diseases, Medical Tests and Treatments My specialist field within the field of head and neck surgery is all benign and malignant thyroid problems with a nieche field of interest for revision thyroid bed surgery for thyroid cancer. The majority of time with patients is spent giving advice and guidance about general ENT conditions and in general offering a conseravtive view on the managment of their conditions.
