Rod Hammett is a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon, specialising in surgery of the foot & ankle, at Nuffield Health Taunton Hospital and Musgrove Park Hospital.
After qualifying from University College and Middlesex Hospitals School of Medicine in 1998, he undertook Basic Surgical Training in Bedford Hospital and Higher Surgical Training in Orthopaedics in Bristol and the Severn Deanery.
Having established an interest in foot and ankle surgery he then spent a year on fellowship in Brisbane, Australia with internationally renowned foot & ankle surgeon, Terry Saxby. Working in an independent hospital he gained extensive experience in foot and ankle surgery including hindfoot and forefoot reconstruction, arthroscopy, arthrodesis and arthroplasty.
On returning to the UK, he then completed a further fellowship in trauma and limb reconstruction surgery at Bristol Royal Infirmary. He has published work on trauma, hindfoot arthrodesis and forefoot surgery.
He took up his post as Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon at Musgrove Park in August 2010 and here undertakes trauma surgery and specialist surgery for conditions of the foot and ankle.
