He is an honorary Senior Lecturer at The Institute of Child Health at the University of London and is a member of the faculty for the Fellowship examination at the Royal College of Surgeons of England.
Mr Ayliffe was formally appointed to Grampian Health Authority and the University of Aberdeen as a Consultant Maxillofacial Surgeon and Senior Lecturer in January 2001 and subsequently moved to University College London Hospitals and Great Ormond Street Hospital London in 2002.
With a dual qualification in dentisty and medicine, his special interests include all aspects of oral and maxillofacial surgery including facial injuries and cancers of the head and neck, medical conditions of the mouth, and facial plastic surgery. He is specifically contracted as a specialist in facial deformity and facial trauma.
