About Mr Nigel Suggett
Nigel Suggett qualified in 1994 from Oxford University and he completed his Basic Surgical Training and Higher Specialist Training in Surgery in the West Midlands. He completed a research degree in colorectal cancer in Birmingham University before being appointed at The Queen Elizabeth Hospital in 2006. He is a well established consultant who has extensive experience in general and colorectal surgery. He is particularly recognised for his experience in hernia surgery which ranges from 'simple' inguinal hernias to very complex recurrent incisional hernias and abdominal wall reconstruction with the use of adjuncts such as botox, pneumoperitoneum and component separation techniques. He works jointly with gynaecology colleagues in the management of endometriosis involving the bowel. He also has many years of experience in the diagnosis and treatment of colo-rectal (bowel) cancer and inflammatory bowel disease (ulcerative colitis and crohn's disease) as well as benign colorectal problems such as diverticulitis, haemorrhoids, fissures, fistulas and pilonidal sinus disease. He is a fully trained endoscopist and laparoscopic surgeon and therefore able to offer a variety of minimally invasive approaches where possible. He practices at the BMI Priory and Edgbaston Hospitals as well as his NHS practice at the Queen Elizabeth.
