About Mr Michael Thilagarajah
Mr Michael Thilagarajah, Consultant Orthopaedic and Trauma Surgeon, currently works at Darent Valley NHS Hospital in Kent and has a thriving private practice. He has gained a wealth of experience over his 21 years as a consultant specialising in lower limb problems. Mr Thilagarajah graduated from his basic medical training at Charing Cross and Westminster Medical School, before going on to complete his specialist orthopaedic training at several units including Guy's and St Thomas' Hospital and several hospitals in Kent. Before his current post, he was a Consultant for foot and ankle surgery at Guy's and St Thomas' hospitals. In his current role, he is currently the Lead for Foot and Ankle surgery, and uses the experience he gained over the twenty years he has been performing hip and knee replacements to enhance his current work. He was also the Lead for Fractured Hips and has transformed the quality of service provided for these vulnerable patients. He offers an up-to-date service for trauma and sports injuries. Outside his practice, Mr Thilagarajah is a passionate educator, having held the position of College Tutor for Orthopaedics at Darent Valley Hospital and teaching the Royal College of Surgeons Surgical Skills courses for thirteen years. Mr Thilagarajah strives to provide patients with the best level of care and compassion and has been awarded a level 4 NHS Excellence award for his services. He always takes a holistic approach to lower limb issues, appreciating the significant interactions between the different components of the leg.
