He was appointed as a Consultant in Aberdeen, after which he completed further Fellowship Training in Vitreo-Retinal Surgery in Sydney Eye Hospital, Australia before being appointed as a Consultant in Sheffield in 2016.
During his career he has been awarded numerous prizes including the Bayer Educational Grant Award, Novartis Retina Case Study Award, Pfizer Scottish Ophthalmological Travel Award and the BriSCEV (British Society for Clinical Electrophysiology of Vision) prize.
Mr Spiteri Cornish is an Honorary Senior Lecturer for The University of Sheffield, teaching ophthalmology to medical students at the Royal Hallamshire Hospital and takes part in undergraduate admission interviews. He also teaches ophthalmology trainees and trains vitreo-retinal Fellows. He is an educational supervisor to junior ophthalmologists, as well as a Microsurgical Skills Trainer and Examiner for the Royal College of Ophthalmologists.
