Dr Waktare received his MBChB in 1989 from the University of Manchester. He then undertook his cardiology training and specialised as a consultant cardiologist in 2003 from St George's Hospital Medical School, London. He later became a Senior Fellow at Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Birmingham.
Outside of the clinic, Dr Waktare has published over 20 original research papers and has written one book all in the areas of cardiology.
