About
Within the field, Mr Buchanan specialises in upper limb surgery and treatment (shoulder and elbow surgery), particularly arthroscopic techniques.
Mr Buchanan qualified in 1986 from St Mary's Hospital, London. He then went on to train in orthopaedics through the North West London programme.
After completion of his Orthopaedic Fellowship exam in 1995, he then spent a year in Perth, Australia, in a specialist sports medicine centre, where he gained extensive experience in arthroscopy and surgery of the shoulder and elbow.
Appointed as a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon at Conquest Hospital in 1998 he has specialised in upper limb surgery, with particular interest on arthroscopic ("keyhole") techniques. He has embraced contemporary techniqes in shoulder & elbow replacement and has examined in orthopaedics at a National level for a 10-year period.
