About Mr James Kirwan
Mr Kirwan is an NHS consultant ophthalmic surgeon in Portsmouth. He lectures in Glaucoma Surgery and all other aspects of glaucoma. He has given teaching sessions at national meetings and at a regional level to doctors and optometrists. He has been heavily involved in surgeon training, having been Wessex Training Programme Director for 6 years. He is also involved in developing world blindness prevention, having participated in work in Tanzania and South Africa. He has published over 40 research papers in my field and is still active in research. He has recently published a landmark study showing the best glaucoma surgery outcomes yet reported with an excellent safety profile.
