About

Mr. Istvan Mersich is a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon specialising in Lower Limb and Shoulder and Elbow Surgery. He has completed extensive training and gained experience both in Hungary and the United Kingdom.

After completing his Shoulder and Elbow Fellowship in Nottingham, Mr. Mersich worked at the University Hospital of Semmelweiss Medical School in Budapest, where he served as the head of the Shoulder and Elbow Unit.

Returning to the UK, Mr. Mersich established a Shoulder and Elbow Unit at the Barlborough NHS Treatment Centre. Since 2005, he has been serving as a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon, carrying out a wide range of procedures including hip and knee replacements, knee arthroscopies, and shoulder and elbow surgeries.

Mr. Mersich always prioritises patient comfort and postoperative pain management. He prefers to perform lower limb operations under spinal anaesthesia and upper limb operations under regional nerve block whenever possible, ensuring less discomfort and extended postoperative pain relief for his patients.
