Mr Tayton MBBS FRCS PGCE MSC PhD qualified (with honours) from University College London (UCL) Medical School in London in 2002.
He undertook his Basic Surgical Training in Bristol, followed by his Higher Surgical Training in the Wessex Region. During his training he gained a Master's degree from the University of Cardiff in Orthopaedic Engineering, where his thesis investigated the beneficial effects of flexible hip replacements on long-term bone preservation after hip replacement.
During the later stages of his training he took an additional 2 years out of program at the University of Southampton in order to complete a PhD in tissue engineering strategies and stem cell therapies for the treatment of Orthopaedic conditions.
After his formal UK training he completed two fellowships. In Auckland, New Zealand, he learnt specialist techniques in complex limb reconstruction and computer navigated joint replacements. Upon return to the UK, he undertook a second fellowship further specialising in complex hip surgery under the guidance of Professor Robert Middleton in Bournemouth.
Mr Tayton is a substantive NHS consultant at the Royal Berkshire Hospital in Reading where he and his colleagues provide the complex hip and knee (primary and revision) arthroplasty service and complex hip and knee (periprosthetic) trauma service for the region.
He is married with two children.
