Ear Nose & Throat Surgery (ENT/Otolaryngology)
About
Mr Howe graduated from the University of Birmingham Medical School with a Bachelor of Medical Sciences and MBChB, before undertaking specialist ENT training across the UK. He then completed a prestigious fellowship in Head and Neck Surgery in Adelaide, South Australia, where he received advanced training in endoscopic sinus surgery and robotic techniques for head and neck cancers. Upon returning to the UK in 2010, he began his consultant career with University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Trust and later joined University Hospital Coventry, where he continues to hold a substantive NHS post.
In clinical practice, Mr Howe specialises in endoscopic sinus surgery, including advanced techniques such as balloon sinuplasty, frontal sinus surgery and navigation-assisted sinus dilation. He works closely with neurosurgeons to offer an endoscopic pituitary service and introduced a trans-oral robotic surgery programme in 2014 for patients with early-stage head and neck cancers. This innovative approach aims to minimise the side effects of traditional cancer treatments while maintaining high success rates.
His expertise extends to thyroid and parathyroid surgery, where he has developed a focus on minimal access procedures designed to reduce visible scarring. He regularly treats neck lumps and diseases of the salivary glands, including parotid and submandibular gland conditions. Mr Howe also has a broad general ENT practice and sees both adult and paediatric patients for procedures such as grommet insertion, tonsillectomy, septoplasty, and microsuction for earwax removal.
Mr Howe is a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons and holds memberships with the British Association of Endocrine and Thyroid Surgeons, the British Rhinological Society and the Royal Society of Medicine. He is actively involved in research and has published on topics such as the role of neck dissection in head and neck cancer and the treatment of epistaxis.
“Evidence-based care tailored to each patient — taking the time to explain options and shared decisions.”
