I have been a consultant in oral and maxillofacial surgery for 20 years, working in Bedfordshire Hospitals NHS Trust. This is one of the surgical specialties that required both a dental and medical qualifications. The range of medical and surgical diseases we treat is wide, including surgery involving the teeth and jaws, temporo-mandibular joints dysfunciton, problmes from salivary glands, facial bones abnormalities, facial trauma and its complicaitons, as well as mouth cancers.
