Mr Anthony Kawesha is a Consultant General Surgeon and Laparoscopic Colorectal Surgeon at the Russells' Hall Hospital in Dudley. He also specialises in Inflammatory Bowel Disease, diverticular disease, and complex anorectal conditions, hernia, haemorrhoids, altered bowel habits and alos offers a colonoscopy service. Patients can book to see Mr Kawesha at his private clinic at the Ramsay West Midlands Hospital.
Mr Kawesha completed his Higher surgical training in Wales, and an MD research degree in Liverpool and Birmingham,. As A substative consultant , appointed in 2006 , he completed his laparoscopic colorectal training through the LAPCO programme.
Mr Kawesha holds various positions and is a member of the West Midlands Colorectal Cancer Expert Advisory Committee and the EX- Lead and Chair of Colorectal Cancer MDT in Dudley. Dr Kawesha is also the EX-honorary President of the Stourbridge Ileostomy Society which supports patients with stomas. He is also a fellow of the International society of university colorectal surgeons.
Mr Kawesha is also involved in teaching and holds an Honorary Senior Lectureship at the University of Birmingham. He also provides courses for GPs on the management of colorectal cancer in secondary care, and the management of minor anorectal conditions. He has been involved in a number of innovations both as a consultant and clinical lead in introducing treatments to improve patient care.
