About

Mr Wan has been a Consultant Surgeon at St George's University Hospital NHS Foundation Trust since 2007. He undertook his Higher Surgical training in Northwest Thames on the St Mary's surgical rotation. He did an advanced Bariatric/Upper Gastrointestinal (GI) surgical Fellowship in Australia and New Zealand following the completion of his surgical training in UK.

He is the Clinical Lead for General Surgery and the Department Lead in Upper GI and Bariatric Surgery at St George's Hospital. He performs a wide variety of general surgical operations including hernia repairs, and has a special interest in Obesity/Bariatric Surgery and other Upper GI operations including gallbladder and anti-reflux surgery.

He sits on the Surgical Training Committee (STC) for Higher Surgical Trainees (HST) and is the mentor for trainees in Upper GI surgery for Southwest Thames. He is an Assigned Educational Supervisor (AES) for the HST in Upper GI surgery. He is actively involved in training and is a laparoscopic tutor at the Royal College of Surgeons (RCS) in England. He directs a number of basic and advanced Laparoscopic/Keyhole surgery courses annually for the RCS. He is also the Clinical years supervisor in Upper GI surgery for medical students of St George's Medical School.

He has published extensively and has spoken at a number of National and International Surgical Conferences. He is currently the section editor of 'Revisional Bariatric Surgery' in the textbook 'Obesity, Bariatric and Metabolic Surgery: a comprehensive guide', where he also co-wrote a chapter on revisional bariatric surgery post sleeve gastrectomy.

• Neuroendocrine tumours of the pancreas
