About Mr Amit Datta
Mr. Amit Datta is a Consultant Trauma and Orthopaedic Surgeon with an extensive background in the field. He graduated from St George's Hospital Medical School, University of London, in 1998. His pursuit of excellence in orthopaedics led him to undertake higher surgical training in Trauma and Orthopaedics at The Royal Orthopaedic Hospital in Birmingham, starting in 2003. During his training, he earned a Master’s degree in Orthopaedic Engineering from the University of Cardiff in 2005 and successfully completed his FRCS (Trauma and Orthopaedics) in 2007. In 2007, Mr. Datta took on a role as a lecturer at the University of Birmingham and continues to contribute to medical education as an examiner for King’s College Medical School, London. He was awarded his Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) in Trauma and Orthopaedic Surgery by the GMC in 2009, recognising his specialist expertise. Further enhancing his credentials, Mr. Datta completed fellowships at prestigious institutions, including the Oxford Trauma Unit, Addenbrookes Hospital in Cambridge as a Shoulder Fellow, and King’s College Hospital in London as an Upper Limb Fellow, all in 2009 and 2010. He commenced his role as a Consultant Trauma Orthopaedic Surgeon at Broomfield Hospital in Chelmsford in 2010. His professional memberships include the General Medical Council, the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh, and the British Orthopaedic Association. He is also a member of the British Shoulder and Elbow Society. Mr. Datta's clinical interests are centred on arthroscopic shoulder surgery for conditions such as impingement syndrome, rotator cuff tears, recurrent instability, and frozen shoulder. He also specialises in arthroscopic and open elbow surgery, as well as treating tennis elbow, golfer’s elbow, and performing ulnar nerve release procedures.
