About

Mr. Alessandro Paluzzi is a highly experienced Consultant Neurosurgeon at University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust, where he practices at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital. Specialising in skull base surgery, pituitary disease, and the surgical treatment of facial pain, he has been a consultant since 2012 and is on the GMC Specialist Register.

Alex completed his medical degree at Padua University in Italy before moving to Newcastle upon Tyne for his neurosurgical training. He further enhanced his expertise with advanced fellowships in skull base surgery at Pittsburgh, USA. Additionally, he holds a Master’s degree in Surgical Technology from Imperial College London, where his work focused on innovations such as virtual reality and minimally invasive surgical techniques.

A leader in endoscopic and minimally invasive neurosurgery, Alex is internationally recognised for his work, particularly in the treatment of complex pituitary adenomas, meningiomas, and chordomas. His surgical series on endoscopic pituitary surgery is one of the most cited in the field, and his research has been published extensively in peer-reviewed journals.

Alex has been invited to lecture at major international meetings and has served as faculty on numerous skull base cadaveric courses. He is also involved in medical education and research focused on neuroplasticity and brain performance enhancement.

In addition to his NHS role, Alex offers private consultations and surgical care at HCA Harborne Hospital in Birmingham, where he maintains the same high standards of multidisciplinary care and surgical precision, with a strong emphasis on clear and compassionate communication with patients.
