About Mr Alan Norrish
Mr Alan Norrish is a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon based in Cambridge, United Kingdom. He qualified in Medicine and was also awarded a PhD for his research from the University of Cambridge. He has a specialist interest in the treatment of injuries and disorders of the hip, knee and ankle. He is highly skilled in complex primary and revision joint replacement surgeries of the hip and knee, including minimally invasive joint replacement surgery.He offers hip replacement via the 'Direct Anterior Approach' allowing rapid recovery and early discharge. He also offers customised knee replacement, allowing an implant to be specifically made for a patient, to get a 'hand in glove' fit. Mr Norrish works as the Team Doctor for Cambridge Rugby Club and has extensive experience in treating sports injuries on and off the pitch. He specialises in sports knee surgery including meniscal repair, cruciate (ACL) repair and knee surgery to stabilise the patella after dislocation. He uses 'Platelet Rich Plasma' injections to help damaged tendons to heal. Mr Norish is also experienced in treating fractures in the legs, hip, knee and ankle including complex fractures that require plates, screws or circular (Taylor Spatial) frames and also in the assessment of fractures that are not healing (non-unions). He implements a number of novel techniques such as ultrasound treatment, platelet rich plasma therapy and magnetic limb lengthening devices. He also offers custom titanium printed bone replacements after complex trauma or infection.
