Miss Jo-Anne Dartnell completed a degree in Pharmacology at the University of Liverpool before studying medicine at Guy’s and St Thomas’ Medical School, graduating with distinction in 2004. She undertook Basic Surgical Training in North East London, followed by Higher Surgical Training on the South East London rotation. This included paediatric orthopaedics at Great Ormond Street Hospital, Evelina Children’s Hospital, and Maidstone and Tunbridge Wells NHS Trust. In 2012, Miss Dartnell returned to Evelina Children’s Hospital for a Fellowship in Paediatric Orthopaedics before undertaking further fellowship training at National University Hospital in Singapore, where she was also offered a Senior Lecturer position in Paediatric Orthopaedics. She completed an additional fellowship in hand and reconstruction surgery. Miss Dartnell was appointed Consultant Paediatric Orthopaedic Surgeon at Maidstone and Tunbridge Wells NHS Trust (MTW) in March 2015. She receives referrals from across the South East of England and holds honorary contracts with Great Ormond Street Hospital and East Sussex Healthcare NHS Trust, where she holds monthly outreach clinics. She is a senior lecturer at Kent and Medway Medical School (KMMS) and is the lead orthopaedic clinician at MTW for KMSS, GKT and St George's medical schools. Her specialist interests include trauma, sports knee, patella instability in children, acquired and congenital limb deformity, developmental dysplasia of the hip (DDH), osteogenesis imperfecta, and cerebral palsy.
