About Dr Mina Ghaly
Dr. Mina Ghaly is a movement disorders and general neurologist who completed his neurology specialty training at Melbourne Tertiary Hospitals. He has undertaken extensive training in movement disorders at St Vincent’s Hospital and was the first to receive a dedicated deep brain stimulation (DBS) fellowship at the Royal Melbourne Hospital, working with expert DBS neurologists both locally and overseas. Dr. Ghaly further advanced his expertise with additional training in neuromodulation for the surgical treatment of movement disorders, and he is one of the few neurologists globally who utilises high-intensity focused ultrasound (MRgFUS) to treat these conditions. He has significant expertise in managing movement disorders such as tremors, tics, dystonia, and Parkinson’s Disease, with a special interest in Parkinson’s pathology and treatment. His practice includes Device Assisted Therapy (DAT), such as Duodopa, Apomorphine, DBS, and MRgFUS, and he also employs Botulinum toxin to treat dystonia, spasticity, and chronic migraine. In addition to his focus on movement disorders, Dr. Ghaly consults on a wide range of neurological conditions, including stroke, epilepsy, headache disorders, peripheral nerve and muscle diseases, multiple sclerosis, and vertigo. Dr. Ghaly is active in Parkinson’s research, patient advocacy, and public education. He currently serves as a movement disorders specialist at St Vincent’s Hospital and holds private appointments at several major Melbourne private hospitals, including Epworth, St Vincent’s Private, Melbourne Private, Southeastern Private Hospital, and Mulgrave Private.
