In 2011, he was awarded a British Heart Foundation Research Fellowship at the University of Oxford, completing a Doctorate (DPhil) in 2016 on the mechanisms underlying life-threatening heart rhythms. His research has been widely published in leading journals, and he received the British Heart Rhythm Society Young Investigator Prize in 2014.
Dr Kalla undertook advanced subspecialty training in Electrophysiology and Device Therapy in Oxford and further refined his expertise in complex catheter ablation at the world-renowned Royal Melbourne Hospital under Professor Jon Kalman.
Appointed as a Consultant in 2018, Dr Kalla provides specialist care in catheter ablation of atrial and ventricular arrhythmias, device implantation, and management of inherited cardiac conditions. His research continues to focus on atrial fibrillation mechanisms, atrial imaging, and ventricular tachycardia treatment.
