About Dr Mahwash Gaba
Dr. Mahwash Gaba is a Chartered Clinical Psychologist and a qualified Cognitive Analytic Therapy (CAT) Practitioner with over 22 years of experience working within the NHS. She has gained extensive expertise in supporting individuals with complex and enduring mental health conditions, having worked in a Mental Health Multidisciplinary Team, and in recent years, in a leading capacity. Dr. Gaba’s therapeutic expertise spans a range of psychological models, including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and third-wave approaches such as Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). She also specialises in working with individuals experiencing emotional dysregulation, offering Comprehend Cope and Connect (CCC) formulations. These formulations help clients understand their emotional reactions and strengths, while skills training empowers them to manage strong emotions effectively. Dr. Gaba’s approach to therapy is eclectic and solution-focused, with an emphasis on person-centred care. She works collaboratively with clients to help them better understand their challenges, while creating a safe environment in which they can develop skills for managing distress. Her approach is rooted in respect, understanding, and compassion, as she believes these elements are essential for resolving the challenges her clients face. She is experienced in working with both adults (18-65+) and teenagers (16-18), offering individual, couple, and systemic therapy for a range of issues, including mood disorders, anger management, relational difficulties, trauma, chronic illness, and stress. Additionally, Dr. Gaba has expertise in managing issues such as self-esteem, family conflict, life transitions, and emotional disturbance. Dr. Gaba’s culturally sensitive approach ensures that therapy is relevant to each individual’s background and circumstances, providing them with the tools they need to move forward in their lives.
"Evidence-based care tailored to each patient — taking the time to explain options and shared decisions."
