Following this, he became a fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians, Australia and has since received a number of awards for his work including the Young Scientist Award at the 29th Bárány Society Meeting, Korea.

Dr Chen is on the editorial board of Frontiers in Neurology and Clinical Neurophysiology, and reviews papers for a number of international journals.
