About Dr John Bladen
Dr. John Bladen, a Consultant Ophthalmologist and Oculoplastic Surgeon, brings a wealth of expertise to his practice at Kings College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, where he cares for both adults and children. His specialisation lies in the intricate field of eyelid and orbital cancers, with a focus on providing world-class care. Having completed his medical training at Imperial College London, Dr. Bladen also holds a BSc in Pharmacology, graduating in 2003. He obtained his Membership of the Royal College of Surgeons (MRCS) in 2006 and later became a Fellow of the Royal College of Ophthalmologists (FRCOphth) in 2014. Dr. Bladen was awarded the prestigious Fight for Sight Clinical Research Fellowship for his groundbreaking PhD research on the molecular basis of eyelid cancer. Subsequently, he earned his PhD in Cancer Genomics in 2017 and earned numerous accolades for his outstanding international research, including the Moorfields Research Medal in 2017 and twice the British Oculoplastic Surgical Society Best Scientific Paper Prize. Specialising in oculoplastic, orbital, and cataract surgery, Dr. Bladen is committed to delivering safe and effective treatments. His expertise extends to cosmetic and reconstructive eyelid surgery, as well as the management of lacrimal disease, including innovative endonasal treatment for the watery eye. Dr. Bladen is an active member of several professional organisations, including the British Oculoplastic Surgery Society (BOPSS), the Royal College of Ophthalmologists (FRCOphth), the General Medical Council (GMC), the Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology (AVRO), and the Medical Protection Society.
