About Mr James Young
James Young is a consultant ophthalmologist with a passion for both patient care and professional education. He is a graduate of Manchester Medical School in 2005, where he initially trained in internal medicine, earning membership with the Royal College of Physicians in 2014. He later transitioned to ophthalmology, where he developed a keen interest in oculoplastic, lacrimal, and orbital surgery. After seven years of rigorous training in general ophthalmology, James pursued advanced subspecialty training in oculoplastics. His expertise spans the management of cataracts and a wide range of conditions affecting the eyelids, tear drainage system, and orbital structures. He combines technical excellence with a compassionate manner, ensuring patients feel informed and reassured throughout their treatment journey. James is also deeply involved in professional development, frequently delivering CPD training for optometrists at Newmedica. His sessions translate complex clinical knowledge into practical insights, helping healthcare professionals to better support their patients. Mr. James believes in personalised care and clear communication, dedicating time to address patients’ concerns and enhance their understanding of procedures. He is based at Newmedica Manchester West Practice, where he continues to make a meaningful difference in patients' lives.
