About Dr James Gamble
Dr James Gamble is a Consultant Cardiologist specialising in general cardiology, heart failure and implantable cardiac devices. He has extensive experience in all of these areas. He particularly focuses on trying to make sure that you understand your condition and how to live with and treat this as best possible. Dr Gamble trained at the Universities of Oxford and Cambridge and completed his specialist cardiology training primarily within the Oxford area. During his training, he undertook a period of clinical research, which led to the award of a Doctorate of Medicine (DM) degree from the University of Oxford. He remains actively interested in clinical research. He works primarily within the NHS at the John Radcliffe Hospital, part of Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, where he is based at the Oxford Heart Centre. He also sees private patients at Nuffield Health Oxford - The Manor Hospital. Dr Gamble assesses and manages a broad range of cardiac conditions. His specialist areas of practice include heart failure and the implantation of pacemakers, cardiac resynchronisation therapy devices and implantable cardioverter defibrillators. He leads the heart failure service in Oxford and performs a high annual volume of pacemaker and device implantation procedures. His clinical work includes the investigation and management of symptoms such as breathlessness, peripheral oedema, palpitations, syncope and chest pain. He undertakes cardiology investigations including electrocardiography, transthoracic echocardiography, ambulatory and event monitoring, ambulatory blood pressure monitoring and cardiovascular risk profiling. He is a member of the Royal College of Physicians, the British Cardiovascular Society, the British Heart Rhythm Society and the British Society of Heart Failure.
