Dr. Hugo Valente is a highly experienced Clinical Psychologist and Counsellor with a Master’s in Clinical Psychology and Counselling. He is a Chartered Psychologist with the Portuguese Statutory Psychologists Order (OPP) and is registered with the Psychological Society of Ireland (PSI), where he serves as a board member in the Division of Counselling Psychology, as well as with the British Psychological Society (BPS, Chartered). He is also registered with the American Psychological Association and holds European accreditation in Clinical, Health, and Educational Psychology through Europsy.
Dr. Valente has specialised in various assessment protocols and therapeutic approaches, including Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), Solution-Focused Brief Therapy, Family Therapy, Person-Centred Therapy, and Systemic Psychodynamic Therapy. Along his academic journey, he has earned additional postgraduate qualifications in Health and Safety and Health Psychology, and has served as a Mental Health Court Expert for Assessments related to Youth Care and PTSD. He is also a college teacher, trainer, mediator, and has worked as an Instructors and Validation Coordinator.
With 25 years of experience, Dr. Valente has worked in numerous clinical settings, supporting diverse populations with adult mental health issues, trauma, PTSD, OCD, anxiety, depression, eating disorders, neurodiversity, and more. He has led several mental health assessment and intervention teams and provides services in English, Portuguese, and Spanish.
