Prof. Dr. Magometschnigg ist Mitglied verschiedener medizinischer Vereinigungen und war von 2013 bis 2016 Mitglied des Universitätsrats der Universität Mozarteum.
Neben seiner medizinischen Karriere widmet sich Univ. Prof. Dr. Magometschnigg auch seinen weiteren Interessen. Er stammt aus einer musikalischen Familie und spielte ursprünglich Klavier, musste dieses jedoch aufgrund einer Dystonie des rechten Arms aufgeben.
