About Dr Fergal Marlborough
Dr Fergal Marlborough is a Consultant Plastic, Reconstructive, Aesthetic and Head and Neck Surgeon based in Newcastle-upon-Tyne, with more than a decade of experience in plastic and reconstructive surgery. He graduated from the University of Edinburgh Medical School before completing his early postgraduate medical training in Edinburgh. He subsequently relocated to Newcastle-upon-Tyne to undertake both his core surgical training and six-year specialist Plastic Surgery Training Programme. Throughout his training, Dr Marlborough gained comprehensive experience across all aspects of plastic, reconstructive and cosmetic surgery. In 2020, he successfully completed the FRCS (Plast) consultant examination and was awarded the prestigious Ian McGregor Medal for achieving the highest mark nationally. Following completion of his specialist training, he undertook an international post-CCT fellowship in complex microsurgery in Perth, Western Australia, further enhancing his expertise in advanced reconstructive techniques. Dr Marlborough later worked as a Consultant at Royal Preston Hospital before returning to the North East, where he now leads his consultant practice. His principal clinical interests include head and neck reconstruction following cancer and trauma, skin cancer surgery, limb reconstruction, and hand surgery. He also provides aesthetic procedures including breast, body, facial and eyelid surgery. Fully registered with the General Medical Council and listed on the Specialist Register for Plastic Surgery, Dr Marlborough is actively involved in surgical education and regularly teaches junior surgeons and medical students through regional and national training programmes.
