Dr Emad Alnounou is a Specialist Cardiologist with extensive experience in the diagnosis, management, and prevention of cardiovascular disease. He practices across Medcare Royal Specialty Hospital Sharjah and multiple branches of Medcare Medical Centre, including Al Taawun, Al Zahia, and Jumeirah.
After completing his medical degree and obtaining an MD from the Ministry of Health in Syria, Dr Alnounou undertook residency training in internal medicine followed by a fellowship in Cardiology and Angiology. He further advanced his expertise with a cardiac catheterisation fellowship at Assad University Hospital, where he performed over 1,300 procedures.
His career began in Damascus, where he worked in both internal medicine and cardiology, including roles at Omayyad Hospital and Cham Clinic, alongside running his own practice. After relocating to the UAE, he held positions at Gargash Hospital in Dubai and Sharjah Corniche Medical Center, where he also served as Medical Director.
Dr Alnounou’s clinical expertise covers a broad spectrum of cardiovascular conditions, including hypertension, coronary artery disease, heart attacks, valvular heart disease, arrhythmias such as atrial fibrillation, heart failure, cardiomyopathy, and vascular diseases. He also manages related conditions such as diabetes, lipid disorders, and pulmonary issues, and provides pre-operative cardiac assessments, cardiac rehabilitation, and lifestyle modification guidance.
In addition to clinical consultations, he performs and interprets a wide range of diagnostic tests, including echocardiography (TTE), treadmill stress testing, 24-hour Holter ECG monitoring, ambulatory blood pressure monitoring, and cardiac CT. He is also experienced in managing acute cardiac emergencies.
Dr Alnounou is an active member of several professional bodies, including the Syrian Society of Cardiology, the Emirates Society of Cardiology, the Gulf Society of Cardiology, the American Heart Association, and the American Stroke Association.
