About
In addition to his private practice, Mr. Thompson has volunteered in the cornea service at Blackpool Victoria Hospital for an extended period. He has expertise in anterior segment eye disease. He plays a significant role in the post-operative management of patients who have undergone corneal grafts and cataract surgeries, both in the private and NHS (National Health Service) sectors. Mr. Thompson is also knowledgeable about refractive surgery management, specifically clear lens extraction surgery, and is part of the team that offers the Light Adjustable Lens (LAL) procedure locally.
Committed to ongoing professional development, Mr. Thompson is a member of the British Contact Lens Association (BCLA) and one of the founding members of the locally organised CLERD group, a professional network for exchanging knowledge and experiences. He currently holds the position of Membership Secretary for the Lancashire Optical Society, which is dedicated to providing continuing education opportunities for community eyecare professionals.
“Evidence-based care tailored to each patient — taking the time to explain options and shared decisions.”
